Communities In Schools of Milledgeville/Baldwin County, Inc names Executive Director

Communities In Schools (CIS) is the leading community-based organization helping children succeed in school and prepare for life. For more than 30 years, CIS has championed the connection of needed community resources with schools. By bringing caring adults into the schools to address children's unmet needs, CIS provides the link between educators and the community.

The Board of Directors for Communities In School of Milledgeville/Baldwin County, Inc. is proud to announce the decision to hire Sandy Baxter as the new Executive Director. Ms Baxter's nonprofit experience extends more than 20 years. Most recently Ms Baxter was with the United Way of Central Georgia.

Sights for Students

As a community partner with Sights for Students, Communities In Schools of Milledgeville/Baldwin County, Inc. (CISMBC) makes available free eye exams and glasses for students.

Eligibility requirements are:

--Student is not enrolled in Medicaid or other vision insurance.

--Student is 18 years or younger and has not graduated from high school.

--Student or parent is a U.S. citizen or legal immigrant with a social security number.

--Student has not used the Sight for Students program during the past 12 months.

--Family’s income is no more than 200% of the federal poverty level. *
